Product details
Description:
Few instruments on a drum kit are more important and difficult to capture than a snare drum, and that’s why Lauten Audio has introduced the Snare Mic, the first-ever FET condenser microphone designed specifically for snare drums. Sporting a high max SPL of 135 dB, a tight cardioid pickup pattern that rejects 28 dB of off-axis noise, and a durable brass headframe that can survive stick impacts, this microphone is engineered to elevate any snare recording scenario with condenser sound quality and dynamic mic-like ruggedness.
The condenser capsule of the Snare Mic is tuned to capture the best possible snare sound, regardless of snare drum, player, or recording environment. With the onboard sound shaping tools, you can switch on a 5 or 12 kHz low-pass filter for extended bass response and cutting out cymbal bleed, or an 80 or 140 Hz high-pass filter for avoiding spillover from kick drums and toms. The natural 3D sound response of the Snare Mic lets you capture detail from the snares as well as the batter head, reducing the amount of mics needed for capture and preventing phasing issues. Snare Mic includes an articulating hard mount and a padded Cordura carry bag.
Features:
- Flat High Cut: Snare Mic’s unaltered high-frequency response is designed for a mix-ready sound. It maximizes stick crack and playing dynamics while delivering open, lifelike top-end air.
- 12 kHz High Cut: smooth out high-end for a dynamic mic-style sound. This setting balances the microphone’s sound and adds a dip after 7 kHz to help reduce cymbal bleed, followed by a slight increase from 12 to 15 kHz to help maintain a natural, open snare attack.
- 5 kHz High Cut: reduce extreme bleed caused by cymbal or stage volume. This setting creates a much smoother response from 1 to 7 kHz, with a slight rise in the 5 to 7 kHz range, followed by an immediate drop-off after 7 kHz, so that more character, presence, and attack can be EQ’d back into a sound without accentuating problematic high-end information.
- Flat Low Cut: allows all low-frequency information to pass for chest-pounding bottom-end with each snare strike.
- 80 Hz Low Cut: reduces low-end spillover from kick drums and toms while adding a slight presence boost to the sound of your snare drum.
- 140 Hz Low Cut: retain the presence boost of your snare drum’s fundamental frequency while significantly reducing phase incoherence and spillover from kick drums and toms.
