Product details
Description:
The Austrian Audio CC8 Stereo Set, designed by a team of former AKG employees, is a matched pair of small-diaphragm condenser microphones that produce smooth and detailed sound and are ideal for stereo recording of acoustic instruments such as piano, acoustic guitar, violins, and percussion in personal studios and commercial recording facilities. The CK1-inspired capsule has a long-lasting, gold-coated diaphragm and a precise cardioid polar pattern, resulting in consistent on-axis directivity and minimised background noise pickup at the microphone’s rear and sides.
Switches on the rear of the CC8 provide you with simple access to the pad and roll-off settings. Set the pad to -10 or -20 dB to reduce distortion while recording loud sources like drums or guitar cabinets. Activate the high-pass filter at 60 or 120 Hz to reduce low-frequency issues like rumbling and proximity impact. The CC8 comes with two mic clips, two windscreens to reduce noise from breaths and bursts of air, a stereo bar for quick stereo mic setup, and a carrying box.
Heritage & Legacy
- Austrian Audio’s core staff includes former AKG (Vienna) professionals.
- Patents in several fields.
- It developed top-selling microphones and headphones that became industry standards.
- Proven experience in ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) for pro audio, consumer, and vehicle acoustics.
- Leaders in technical fields such as acoustics, audio electronics, DSP, firmware, mechanical, noise cancellation, software, test and measurement, and transducers.
The Capsule – CC8 Stereo Set
- The Austrian Audio CC8 microphone has the newly designed OCC7 condenser capsule. Inspired by the renowned CK1, the OCC7 offers all of the benefits of that original design, updated to match today’s expectations.
- The capsule’s 3-micron-thick gold-coated polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) diaphragm is more durable than traditional Mylar options. The fabric filter guarantees continual broadband cancellation by attenuating sound from the sides and back, resulting in excellent cardioid qualities.
- The CC8’s OCC7 capsule and transformerless output provide a linear frequency response and can handle up to 156 dB of sound pressure without distortion. When combined with an extremely low self-noise of about 16 dBA, this yields a remarkable dynamic range.
Versatile Applications
- Small-diaphragm microphones are useful for recording acoustic instruments in classical and jazz ensembles, including stringed, woodwind, brass, and symphonic percussion. Furthermore, they are often employed on instruments from different genres, including acoustic guitar, piano, snares, hi-hats, and complete drum sets (when used as overheads).
- The CC8’s tiny size allows for precise placement in tight spaces, whether in the studio or on stage.
CC8 Stereo Set – The Sound
- The CC8 captures quick transient and spatial information, ensuring reliable recording. It sounds natural and open without becoming harsh or spiky, even at high levels. The mids and highs are silky smooth and never overdone.
- The CC8’s low self-noise allows for exceptional detail and clarity when recording softer sources, such as a delicate stringed instrument or voice.
- Before leaving the manufacturer, each microphone is tested and calibrated in Austrian Audio’s in-house anechoic chamber to a minimum tolerance of ±0.5 dB sensitivity at 1kHz. This implies that any CC8 may be matched with any other, independent of manufacturing dates.
